mott’s mutterings

July 9, 2008

I’m so a slackr mama…

I don’t know why nobody believes me. I am I am I am!

Here’s why :

1) I found out about an incident in my No.1’s primary school that involved pulling down of pants and showing bums n birdies. Hmph…that kinda worried me. Because the ringleader was a Year 1 (read : standard 1) student. Unfortunately, for this slackr mum…it happened in Term 1. Which was in February. A little too late in saying anything now, as all is forgotten.

2) I don’t do homework at home. Even tho there is no real homework, a lot of prep parents go through with their kids, on improving their writing, reading and arithmetic. Me? Ah… all I do, is reading. Only when I heard that some parents diligently practise their writing skills…only did I drag myself into writing a few words with No.1.

3) I don’t do volunteer work at school. Over here, it’s a bloody big thing. It shows how involved you are as a parent. You volunteer as a class helper. You volunteer as a PE assistant. You volunteer in the art show. You volunteer, you volunteer, you volunteer. Me? I just give donations. I gotta pick up the slack…and do some volunteering next year. I need No.2 to get into that school…… haiz….

4) I rather sit in front of this PC, than play trains with my kids. I actually force myself in bringing them to the playground, so that I actually play with them.

5) When my kids actually bug me to play with them (like while I’m typing away this), I’d throw them scraps of paper and tell them to draw me something nice. Just to keep them quiet. Heh!

See what a slackr mom I am.

I only do stuff, after hearing other mums doing it. Kiasu? Quite… Lazy? Very! That kinda combo equals slackr. Only picking up the slack, as and when required.  ;)
